Anyone out there using a phone purchased alone and having your cell number transferred? I like Smart phones: I just don't need the internet access and extra charges.
How about Google Droid...any users? |

ZZ,
I had a smart phone but got rid of it. With all the free wifi out there I switched to an Apple i touch (Iphone w/out phone) and cheap cell phone. The cell phone industry is changing quickly.
These days there isn't any reason to have a contract. Unless you want an Iphone, Driod or Google phone.
There are many companies offering unlimited minutes, text and data without contracts. The caveat is you have to pay full price for phones or you can get unlocked ones on Ebay alot cheaper.
Companies with no contract unlimited usage
Straight talk (which is verizon, they just don't want you to know that)
Tmobile just introduced unlimited plans no contracts
Boost which is sprint
Cricket
Metro PCS
I pay $45/month unlimited minutes with a $30 phone and my itouch for free wifi and email. I save a ton of money, don't miss smartphone and have the leverage dealing with companies if something is wrong. I can always walk away without hearing "Yeah but you will have to pay early termination fee"
