If any semi-anonymous internet forums users were to be quoted centuries hence, surely you'd be a candidate. (At which point someone will have to add a "disambiguation" page for the wikipedia entry for "nisi_prius".)

I've still got the personal list I wrote on the inside of the cover I tore off a paperback in a shack in the Guatemalan highlands in the Peace Corps in '72. It's interesting that setting goals helped focus on them. That list is pretty much done. I have that country home with a garden, financial independence, balance, family, time in the mountains and time on the water and I'm still kind of in shape.
My other list is about other people and I won't finish that one, but the pay is good. Living overseas showed me the contrast between people and inspired me to give time to others. I give time to hospice and habitat and scouts and our local Katrina relief charity. The rest of my life has turned pretty simple.
Life is short, but it's wide. |

Praxis, thanks for providing my inspiration for the day. Easy to get caught up in the short-term and forget what's important in the big picture.
Diasurfer, best of luck in your marathon. Remember, it is better to get to the start line slightly undertrained than to not get there at all. |

I live near this. I guess every town needs an "attraction." Trust me when I say you're not missing much.

Thanks. I think I've done more running in the last 3 months than the total of the rest of my life. Would like to break 5 hours but will settle for just crossing the finish line. That's enough to cross this off my list! |
