Hello,

Any suggestion for books on market manias and crashes throughout the history?

I found the two below in this forum:
  • Devil Take the Hindmost, by Edward Chancellor
  • Manias, Panics, and Crashes, by Charles P. Kindleberger
Any comment on the above books?

Thanks.

I liked Devil Take the Hindmost. Good review of bubbles throughout history from Tulip Mania all the way through 1980s Japan and 1990s United States. It was published in 1999. The author left no doubt it was a bubble in the 1990s.

What about the classic by Mackay - Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds? Make sure you get the unabridged edition.

Here is the free Gutenberg copy.

The first 100 pages cover financial speculative bubbles.

Irrational Exuberance - Robert J. Shiller

A good read about the internet bubble.
