Huntsville, North Alabama local group?
Huntsville, North Alabama local group?
Is there anyone here from Huntsville, or North Alabama interested in a group?
Northern Alabama - Middle Tennessee
Depending on the response you get, maybe with only 80+ miles between Northern Alabama and Middle Tennessee, you might consider the Middle Tennessee group if it is able to form.

Birmingham area
I would be interested in either a north Alabama or central Alabama group. I always look for an excuse to stop by the original Greenbrier.
Know of one other Boglehead in B'ham area.

Alabama Diehards Local Chapter?
Hi Alabama Diehards:
If you get five or more AL Diehards who want to get together, and one of you volunteers to be the coordinator (doesn't have to be a guru), then let me know and I'll assign your group the next Diehards Local Chapter number and add your group to the Diehards Local Chapters Map.
Good luck!
Mel

North Alabama chapter Coordinator
I probably would be willing to be the coordinator if we meet in Huntsville, AL.

OK. Once you have five or more Diehards who want to get together, you can PM me with the name you'd like your group to be called (Huntsville Diehards, or Alabama Diehards, or whatever) and your contact information (suggest you use a yahoo or similar e-mail address for just this purpose). Once you do that, I'll have your group added to the Diehards Local Chapters Map where other Diehards can find you and get in touch.
Good luck!

Sorry for any misunderstanding!
Sorry for any misunderstanding. Not sure that Mel realized we are far enough apart to need two groups.
I in no way wanted to detract from your efforts organizing a Huntsville/North Alabama group. Just wanted to get going with a Birmingham/Central Alabama group.
Certainly wish you success with your group and look forward to cooperating with you as we build groups.
Joe

No. Alabama Diehards
Hi tarnation:tarnation wrote:Did I miss something? We now have a central AL group? I thought we had more people in Huntsville? Who is the coordinator?
If you have a No. Alabama group who wants to form a chapter, and you have someone who will step up and be the coordinator (that person doesn't have to be a guru), let me know the contact name and e-mail address and I'll assign your group the next available Diehards Local Chapter number and add your group to the Diehards Local Chapters Map. I'll wait to hear from someone, either via a post here on the forum or via a PM.
Good luck and best regards,
Mel

hi everybody:
I pm'ed rocket to see if he was still interested in being coordinator. I haven't heard back yet. I know I started the thread, so I feel obligated to volunteer, but I have so many irons in the fire right now.
If we can't get a coordinator here, maybe littleridge will invite us to their parties ?

Add me to the numbers for the Huntsville group. Also, my father in Birmingham would definately be interested in a B'ham/Central group if it formed. His handle is "peanuts". If not, he might even drive up to Huntsvegas for a meeting.
However, I would think Birmingham wouldn't have any trouble forming their own group. It is the financial capital of the southeast...

Central Alabama Chapter
A Central Alabama Diehards Chapter was formed recently, Chapter 27. Scroll up to a message from Mel, containing the Diehards Local Chapters Map. There you can see all the groups and email the group administrators.
FYI, there is a new thread on a possible Huntsville group. here http://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71515
