LOL I thought I was the only one who would say Twilight Zone and Barney Miller

How old are you or what is your age range BTW?
73, with good long term memory
I also should have mentioned the original 60 Minutes gang, Wallace, Bradley, Reasoner, Sawyer and Rooney

and, if you go back to 1948, when my dad wheeled a Crosley (sp?) 12" console into our Bronx apartment, old time wrestling.

Son of the Beach

I don't know if it is on TV nowadays, but I always found "Son of the Beach" to be a hilarious sendup of relationships, Baywatch, colleges, and politics. It is on DVD and the disks are available from Netflix, too.

My favs:

The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World - great 6-part documentary about finance during the meltdown.

Breaking Bad - never thought I'd like a show about this topic (drug trade, being middle-aged and under-achieving). I'm too cheap to buy it so I've only seen the first three seasons available "free" on Netflix streaming.

Formula One (BBC) - a guilty pleasure. Teams spend up to 500 million each on their teams. Crazy, fast, high-tech.

Daily Show with Jon Stewart - Though I have to say the format is breaking down lately, with too-short interviews (unless watching online) and sometimes too-long comedy sketches.

Mad Men - 'nuff said.

Cheers,
Brad

OK, the hubby and I are watching Lost on Netflix. We are on Season 3 out of 6. Please don't tell me how it will end.

Just tell me if it is going to be worth the wait.

PS: Season 3 is dragging a little.....this is why I am asking.

By the way, speaking of tv, we bought an antenna and get several channels HD clear. Purchased it at Walmart for less than $40.00. We have Netflix (8.00/mo) and Amazon (79.00/yr and includes prime shipping) unlimited streaming.

We will cancel cable at a savings of 65.00/mo.

as a fan of sci-fi and alternate universe scenarios, I took out some of the early discs from the library and then started watching the current shows. the creators had a great premise but as the seasons wore on it seemed that they were reaching too much to keep the story moving. I stopped watching and ignored the ending. maybe you can post the synopsis of the final season

Deadwood was great. Timothy Olyphant (and Margo Martindale's Emmy award) is why we started watching "Justified". Check it out.

The Rockford Files has a special place in my heart. During its run, my better half was attending law school and studying like mad. Just about the only moment she'd put down the books was when this program aired. Together, watching the affable private investigator Jim Rockford and the always scheming Angel Martin (trying to play a new angle) provided balm to one's spirits.

The few I watch get cancelled quickly. Lost was an exception to that rule as was the X-Files.
Currently, Washington Week and Once Upon a Time are the only shows I watch regularly.

Years ago I was a fan of Wall Street Week. I guess I like a mix of reality an fantasy. Sometimes the fantasy is on PBS!

Dr. Who, from the early 60's to the present.

Out of Dr. Who came Torchwood, have it in Netflix just need to get to it.

Other shows I have enjoyed:
Fringe (great show)
Numbers
Ther Good Wife

Have to love the Carol Burnett Show, the following sketch is one I still love to this day, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9T8i4FkNVo you can't beat these two.

As a family we like to watch America Got Talent and America Idol. A DVR is a must for these shows otherwise we would not watch them. We turn a 2 hour show into 45min.

As a child I loved Ed Sullivan and Bonanza

As a young adult with children Little House on the Prairie

All time favorite was the "Lost" series. Wish they would have a reunion show.

I rencently caught an episode of "Mob wives" It just cracks me up that women can live and act like that. I makes me look so normal. I think I will watch more.

You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx (Groucho could merely raise his eyebrows and I'd dissolve into fits of laughter)

and, transported in time via the WABAC machine:

Rocky and His Friends (aka the Rocky and Bullwinkle show) with, of course, Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose, Fractured Fairy Tales narrated by Edward Everett Horton, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Boris and Natasha, Dudley Do-Right, etc.

All fun stuff.

My favorite exchange from "You Bet Your Life:"

While interviewing a young, pretty girl before the YBYL game, he jokingly proposes to marry her.

Shocked by the marriage proposal, she replies, "But that's bigamy!"

Groucho quips, "Yes, and it's big of me, too." :D

My favorite dramas over the past decade:

The Sopranos
The Wire
Breaking Bad

All require complete attention to watch, which is rare on TV shows these days.

Comedies:

Seinfeld
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Both shows are the creation of Larry David. Larry's an avid golfer, and I see him around occasionally. He's a nice guy, and he does really drive a Prius.

Usually need to see the British crime shows several times to get the plot and understand 'who dunn it' and why...but like a good puzzle, that is what makes them fun.

Not a new show, but I recommend Breaking Bad on AMC. The fifth and final year will begin July 15. Reruns of all back shows are now running nightly on AMC. Set your DVR.

Br Ba may be the best show on cable or broadcast TV ever.
