What typically happens in these chapter meetings?
Hello, first post.
Do these chapter meetings follow a typical agenda, or are they all different?
Thanks.

The local Seattle Bogleheads chapter would only be successful with a diverse group that has active participants. As the new local chapter coordinator, I want to thank everyone for their interest. Being that August is almost gone, I was thinking of planning the first meeting for the week of 15th/22nd.
I'll plan the first agenda and have everyone help with trying to figure out what day/time and location works out the best. Feel free to PM, email or post directly on this feed.
I look forward to learning from the experience of everyone as well as advancing the Bogleheads philosophy.
Best regards,
Tyrone

I would assume that also although those dates do not make a lot of sense connected to the word 'week' on the September calendar.stratton wrote:I assume September as a month is not mentioned?

If the meeting is between 9/20 and 10/6 I would likely attend.
Have a plan, stay the course and simplify. Then ignore the noise!
The meeting is currently planned on a weeknight in Sept. I'll am thinking of 4 dates 9/14, 9/15, 9/21 and 9/22. Does anyone have an idea of a good venue in downtown Seattle?
The goal would be to narrow down to a date where the majority of people can attend. Please let me know by the end of this week if you have a preference.

Seattle Chapter
Count me in; I am in Mukilteo. It would be easierto make it if it was a weekend, but I should make it.

Does anyone want Bellevue or Issaquah?
Some place near the Bellevue transit station might work too.
Depending on how many people... Anthony's Bell St. Diner at Pier 67 might work. Valet parking with the meal. Generally tip the valet $3.

...and then Buffy staked Edward. The end.
Let's plan to meet at the Starbucks at University Village on Thursday 9/22 at 6:45 PM. (206-522-5228) Starbucks South at University Village right across from the Pottery Barn. Let me know if you have any additional thoughts or recommendations.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend!

That location works for me as well. My only concern is that that is a very busy (crowded) Starbucks. How large a group do you anticipate?boglety wrote:Let's plan to meet at the Starbucks at University Village on Thursday 9/22 at 6:45 PM. Is there some sort of plan or agenda? What happens at these meetings?

Hi everyone,
For this Thursday's meeting at the Starbucks University Village at 6:45 PM. (206-522-5228) right across from the Pottery Barn., I have setup an agenda
- Introduction
- Low Interest Rate Environment
- Recommendations to Make the Local Chapter a Success
- Better places to meet for Future Meetings
- Topics for Future Meetings
I appreciate everyone's patience as we get over any growing pains of a new group. I have also created a new Seattle Area Boglehead Yahoo Group. Please join so I will be able to send out automated reminder of future meetings to the group members.

Has there been any activity in this chapter? I would love to participate.

Hi Mark,
As far as I know, we met once in Seattle. Personally I learned a lot. There were some great ideas discussed and it seemed like everyone had their financial plans in order.

chrischris,
Take a look at the dates on most of the posts in this thread and you'll see that the planned meeting was last fall. The thread was just recently revived by Mark.
Have a plan, stay the course and simplify. Then ignore the noise!
Re: Seattle Local Chapter? The answer is "Yes"
Ill be happy to host another meeting if we want to develop an agenda to discuss. Last one went pretty well
I was thinking the following
Index products/providers that everyone is using
ETFs vs mutual fund structure
Rebalancing
Taking advantages of tax deferal/advantaged accounts
Let me know and we can figure out a date/time. Thanks you!

I'm in Seattle and I'd love to meet you good folks.
Re: Seattle Local Chapter? The answer is "Yes"
I'm definitely interested. For those of us with kids, we're getting into spring break season over the next couple of weeks. So how about sometime in mid-April? It would be cool to get a Seattle group going!boglety wrote:Ill be happy to host another meeting if we want to develop an agenda to discuss. Last one went pretty well

Re: Seattle Local Chapter? The answer is "Yes"
I'm in Tacoma but would make the trip up for a meeting. Is there anything more about a meeting in mid-April?
Re: Seattle Local Chapter? The answer is "Yes"
I might be interested too.
