Tampa Bay Bogleheads meeting

Postby Adrian Nenu » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:23 pm

Hi folks,

A few people e-mailed me recently requesting a meeting in the Tampa Bay area. I can set up a meeting in St.Petersburg, Tampa, Brandon or Plant City. If you have another suggestion for a location please let me know. And please reply here as well to keep this post on the front page so that others who may be interested can see it. Thanks!

Hello!

Yes, I am interested. I live out in Clearwater so Tampa/St. Pete is perfect.

I liked the meeting with Rick a couple months ago. I'm interested.

Rick was the highlight of that excellent meeting. I had not seen Rick since 2003 and it was great to see his presentation and Q&A session.

I am working on setting up a well-known surprise guest speaker for this meeting. She will make the meeting much more fun and educational because she has expertise in areas in which most of us lack.

Let me know if Tampa is OK or you'd rather have it in some other location.

Tampa is good for me. Further south is more problamatic.

Adrian,
Tampa works for me as well. At some point an expert in spreadsheets and web querry from yahoo finance, morningstar pages etc. would be helpful. Mine are useful to me but not elaborate nor extensive historically as some on the forum have shown.

What is the usual format / length of time of these events and how many people usually attend?

I book a library conference room for Saturday afternoons, generally 1-5 P M. We have had anywhere from 8 -36 people attend. We briefly introduce ourselves, have short presentations from volunteers or special guests and a Q&A session.

Count me in!

Hello everyone. I just joined the forum after visiting many times over the past two years. I've learned so much from the postings and the wiki. I'm actually about to post my portfolio for review in the Help with Personal Investments.

It would be great meet other like-minded folks, ask questions and learn from others in person.

Tampa, Clearwater and St Pete are great for me.

I wasn't able to attend the Orlando meeting, but am interested in this one.
I'll be in NJ from the 17th to the 24th of Feb, so if it's not between those dates, I'd like to come.

I'd like to join this meeting and hope to see a time/place posted soon.

I'm in St Pete, but am glad to drive an hour or two for a Saturday meeting.

Note that I'm out of town the last 2 weekends in April.

Has a meeting time/place been agreed yet? I live in Sarasota but would love to attend if it is not too late.

Good Morning

I am moving to Lutz in about 3 weeks. Keep me up to speed on plans. My move in date is 5/27 so I might not be able to make this next meeting but am happy to be in a civilized area. I am moving from NW Florida.

Adrian seems to be no longer posting, so its unclear when the next meeting will be or who will call the meeting. Perhaps someone else would like to step forward and organize a meeting.
