Update - Saturday Nov. 20 4:00PM: LOS ANGELES Meetup

Postby jond2062 » Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:03 pm

Saturday November 20th at 4:00 PM at the Starbucks on Hawthorne and Artesia in Torrance (17400 Hawthorne Boulevard, Torrance, CA)

At our last meetup (on 6/12/2010: Link), we discussed scheduling the next meeting sometime in October. So it looks like I am a little behind in terms of organizing this meeting, but better late than never! That being said, since we are already in the middle of October, I think shooting for November is probably more realistic. I will suggest Saturday November 6th, assuming we can gather enough interest by then. If not, then I would recommend we push it back two weeks to November 20th.

Last time there were four of us and we met at a Starbucks in Torrance. The meeting was informal, but each of us read Predictably Irrational beforehand, which provided somewhat of a basis for conversation. I am hoping we can get at least 6-8 people this time. Please chime in if you would be interested in coming out.

Hi,

Thank you for organizing these meetings, I am sorry I missed the last one, but I would love to attend this one. Both the November 6 and 20th would work for me.
Looking forward to it.

- Vincent.

My boys have soccer on Saturdays, but I could make a 4pm get together.

I'll update the main post, but I'm thinking we should shoot for Sunday November 7th. It looks like we have enough interest to get at least 5 or 6 of us out there for a meeting.

Hi,
November 7th is fine with me, but I am busy in the evening so I would prefer to meet in the morning, maybe around 10am. How does that sound?

Updated main post. Let me know what you guys think. I can commit to Sunday, but if we can't get enough of a group together, let's reschedule for Sunday the 21st.

Hi,
It is Friday afternoon, and it looks like only three of us are OK for Sunday. We should try for the 21st to see if some new people want to join.

I'll assume it's off as the header has a question mark, but I'll check again tonight.

Apologies again for the delay in updating. Unfortunately, I think we'll need to push the meeting back. Let's shoot for Saturday the 20th at 4pm. This way hopefully yakers and hermosasurfer can both make it. Let me know if that doesn't work and I'll change to the 21st.

Suggestion

Postby HermosaSurfer » Sun Nov 07, 2010 10:29 am

Jon,

Date coordination might be easier to do through e-mail as it doesn't require people to check the site. Since you've so graciously volunteered to organize us I think we should provide you with our e-mail addresses. We can work through people's schedules and then promote the event on this forum.

Saturday afternoon on the 20th is fine by me.

All I need is the address of the Starbucks in Torrance.

I agree, e-mail is probably a lot easier. With so many things going on, I often forget to check the forums too. Please feel free to PM me with your e-mail addresses. We might also want to consider setting up a Meetup group. Either way, as long as there aren't any objections, I think we should plan for Saturday the 20th. Seems like that should work for almost everyone.

Hi Steve,
In the OP there is a link that gives the address. It is easy to miss. Here is the address for the Starbucks on Hawthorne and Artesia in Torrance (17400 Hawthorne Boulevard), Torrance, CA. C-ya there.

As there were no other suggestions, I've updated the main post to confirm the location:

Starbucks on Hawthorne and Artesia in Torrance (17400 Hawthorne Boulevard, Torrance, CA)

This will hopefully make it easy for people taking the freeway, as it is located very close to the 405.

Yep, I am here on the other side of Riverside county, in Rancho Mirage.

I'm just getting back from vacation today, but I hope to see everyone at 4pm today. If not, I'll just enjoy a coffee and start Pillar Two of The Four Pillars of Investing, haha.

I am so bummed out that I missed this meeting, I didn't realize there is a small group of bogleheads in my area. I would love to meet up with everyone in the near future, I hope we don't have to wait another 4-5 months before meeting :)
