Any chapters in Massachusetts?

Postby bogey » Mon Jul 14, 2008 6:37 am

Cape Cod or the islands would be nice, too.

Hi Bogey:

We did have a New England Chapter, but our good friend, Bob Stowe, who was the Chapter Coordinator, passed away.

If you get four more Diehards who would like to form a chapter, and one of you agrees to be the Chapter Coordinator (doesn't have to be an investment guru), then I'll assign your group the next available Chapter number and add your group and contact information to the map. Here's a link to the existing Chapters: http://www.lostsprings.com/diehards/chapters/

Good luck!

Regards,

Mel

Diehards Chapter for Cape Cod & The Islands

Bogey,

If you can get two more I will join in. Mel says we need a minimum of 4.

I'm very new to Bogleheads but I'm in MA and I'd be interested in joining a chapter.

Thanks,

I'm interested. In my lurking I've noticed some posts about a Boston-area meeting in the past. I don't know if that happened or not.

I'm interested. Several earlier explorations went nowhere.

Looks like you've got the required five. Now we need is for one of you to step up and agree to be the coordinator (that person doesn't have to be an investing guru). The coordinator simply communicates with the members and helps plan the meeting dates and locations (this forum can be used for the group's communications).

I've noticed that some of the people here are down the Cape & others are north of Boston, why not meet in the middle? Maybe Braintree, or Quincy there are lots of places right of the expressway to meet. I would definitely be joining you all, if you can get this formulated!

New Mass. Local Chapter

Postby Mel Lindauer » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:17 pm

Cheryl stepped up and agreed to be the Local Chapter coordinator, so I've assigned your group the next available Local Chapter number. From now on, you'll be known as the SouthofBoston Diehards Local Chapter #36.

Good luck to all of you. I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting and talking about investing with other Bogleheads from your local area.

Thanks Cheryl. I don't know if I'll be able to make any meetings (busy work plus family), but I'll be looking to try.

Please add me to the list!

Brookline/Newton/Cambridge/Boston would be great. (Well, maybe not Boston, given the parking costs!

But elsewhere is fine, too, obviously.

Thanks!

I would be happy to add your name to our current list of members, several of them are from the Boston area. Our first meeting was held in Quincy, right off the expressway and I believe, was convienent (outside of running into some Cape Cod traffic) to most. I have a few alternative locations, but they are also on the South Shore. At present, I'm hoping to meet again in September/October. Details will be posted on the Local Chapters Forum as it gets closer. For all those who attended our fist meeting, I will keep you posted via PM.

I'm currently working on a 2nd meeting to take place in September/October. I think a Boston meeting would be great, but since I live and work on the South Shore, I simply don't have the time to research places to meet in Boston. I think you have a couple of choices here: You can meet up with us at the next meeting and exchange contact information with the Boston members, or you can open a new "Boston" group. I will be posting the details of our next meeting as it gets closer, hope you can make it :!:

If there's enough interest in starting another Chapter in Boston, that's fine with me. Just let me know when you have five folks who want to get together and one of them agrees to be the Local Chapter Coordinator.

Those interested should feel free to start a new thread titled "Boston Local Chapter Anyone?" or something similar.

Next meeting

Postby puregold » Sun Sep 27, 2009 1:13 pm

Our last meeting was located in Quincy, right off the expressway and if your up for the drive, I would be happy to add your name to our member list. At present, I am hoping to gather for a 2nd meet towards the end of October and I will be sending a PM email to you all with details!
