updating phpBB to 3.0.12
updating phpBB to 3.0.12
The update failed. I reverted to the backup of 3.0.9. We'll regroup and try again another day.

Complexity
Larry:
It must have been an extraordinarily complex "update" if you had trouble.

Thanks for the effort. It is much appreciated.

Re: updating phpBB to 3.0.12
We just tried the updates again. We were able to get from 3.0.9 to 3.0.10 but we couldn't get any farther. We're going to take some of this to another host for testing to see if we can get past it. Stay tuned.

Thanks, Larry! No worries about the outage - it was a fine excuse to get outside.

I agree, thank you!

All I can say is that it went so quickly I missed it.
[I cannot say the same of the previous attempts at upgrading.]

For completeness, it was less than 10 minutes. Maybe 5 minutes, but I wasn't keeping track.
Re: updating phpBB to 3.0.12
That was what I got from looking at the gaps in the posts in the minutes before Larry posted that it had worked. There is a new post at 11:08 on bogleheads.org (which is central daylight and eastern standard) and Larry posted at 11:20. They are now hidden, but I saw a few posts after 11:08, so the 12 minutes is a very conservative upper bound. I was out shopping at the time, so by the time I could check the times, there had been other posts "hidden" by more recent ones.LadyGeek wrote:For completeness, it was less than 10 minutes.
