Bogle based advisers
Bogle based advisers
Are there any reputable firms who provide financial advice based on Bogle's principles, in addition to tax and trust planning?
Re: Bogle based advisers
Do you want someone to manage your portfolio or give you financial advice at an hourly rate?

Re: Bogle based advisers
Rick Ferri, Bill Schultheis, Larry Swedroe, Dan Solin. Paul Merriman is retired but his firm lives on now being run by his son. These advisors all post here. And William Bernstein.

Cardiff Park. Flat fee and passive investing. Check his website for details and give him a call.
Re: Bogle based advisers
They are "flat fee" DFA advisors so in addition to the $3-6K/year management fee you would have DFA expense ratios which are somewhat higher than Vanguard. May be lower cost than managers who charge based on assets under management. They do not do estate or tax planning, but will coordinate with your attorney/accountant. May be a good choice, but not clear that's what OP is looking for.reggiesimpson wrote:Cardiff Park. Flat fee and passive investing. Check his website for details and give him a call.
OP may want to pay someone $300-500 to develop a plan, talk him through it, and answer his questions. That person does not exist as a competent individual cannot make a living under that business model.

John Gorlow also promotes Fidelity and Vanguard and others. As far as costs the OP didnt mention his assets but some of the advisers mentioned above are %AUM and that can be astronomical compared to flat fee. Merriman is also a DFA adviser (dont know if his son is). Further as discussed on BH an "all inclusive" adviser that includes the additional services the OP is looking for has been roundly (and reasonably) criticized by many.stan1 wrote:They are "flat fee" DFA advisors so in addition to the $3-6K/year management fee you would have DFA expense ratios which are somewhat higher than Vanguard. I suggested looking at Cardiff Parks website and talking to him directly to see if they "fit". I personally chose Cardiff as a result of the many recommendations he got on this Forum and after extensive review of a number of the advisers( and others) noted above.

You might also go to Vanguard itself.
Re: Bogle based advisers
I saw a Forbes article (Sept 23, 2013) that mentioned that some certified financial planners work on an hourly basis. Per the article, Garrett Planning Network is a nationwide confederation of 325 such planners. Anyone have experience with someone within this network or others?

Boglehead Allan Roth of Wealth Logic is a fee-only advisor who I know personally and would highly recommend if that's what you're looking for. You can learn more about Allan And his philosophy at http://www.daretobedull.com/
If it's an AUM advisor you're looking for, then Rick Ferri would be an excellent choice.
