Finding a real-estate agent in another state.

Postby caseynshan » Mon Jul 01, 2013 9:41 pm

What is the best way to find a sellers real estate agent in another state.

Details:
MIL is moving from FL to CO. She does not have great financial judgement. (She has been talking w/ a 'friend' about purchasing and they have offered her about 60% of it's actual value)
I will be in FL to help her pack in 2 weeks and plan to meet w/ an agent with her. I will be returning to drive a uhaul back to Colorado a month later.
It is not a large sale (60k on zillow)
I don't want to be searching for an agent while packing.. (and trying to enjoy the beach a tiny bit :) )

Try homegain.com, zillow.com or trulia.com. I believe all three sites have reviews of agents.

Thanks.

I'm checking zillow and found lots of agents..

in Narrowing them down.. Obviously higher rated reviews are better and more reviews are better.

They also show number of listings..

I assume sowewhere in the middle is good.. as you don't want someone who has a ton of listings.. (especially since this property is kind of low end).. but you don't want someone w/ no listings..

If you go to www.redfin.com, you should be able to do a search on closed homes sales for the past 3/6 months. You might search on properties similar to the one that will be sold. This way, you can find an agent that has direct experience in the property you are looking to sell and probably a good feel for the local market/pricing/etc.

Redfin also has a forum so you might ask for suggestions on that forum.
