Curious how much we are saving as a percentage of monthly expenses.

We are between 150-200% when you count investing and savings. As a teacher and part-time nurse, our income isn't the greatest, but it helps to have no debt.

Incredible how good bogleheads are at savings. Saving 150-200% of expenses every month for what, 10-20 years at modest market returns leads to financial independence! Maybe sooner if someone is willing to do the math for different percentiles.

I guessed 100-150%.
Of course, it depends on what stage you are in life. Once you reach a satisfying standard of living, you can put most of your future raises into savings. Many of us are easily satisfied.

This forum is an anomaly. Most of America would answer either zero or negative numbers. The posters on here are uber savers - we want to control our destiny instead of having it controlled by others.
