Can you identify the view in this painting?

Post by Bammerman »

I bought this painting, by someone named Gombert, at the local Habitat ReStore after admiring it a long time. Can anybody identify the view? I think it's a real place, probably somewhere out west.

It looks like the view overlooking Swift Current Lake from the Many Glacier Lodge at Glacier National Park in Montana. I have a photo on my cell phone camera taken last July from a different angle which looks like the view in your painting. It may not be, but it looks like it is.

I immediately thought of Lake Louise in Banff. It's a similar perspective that I'm reminded of, but I really don't know. Many Glacier looks like a good possibility. Have you tried Google Images?

At first I thought it looked a lot like Mt. Gould across Swiftcurrent lake -- but the painting looks like there's a small glacier to the left of the peak. Maybe it's just a generic mountain-at-the-end-of-a-lake landscape.

I was thinking Horseshoe Lake in Mammoth.

It made me think of the lake/mountain from this video:

I don't think it is right, as the mountain doesn't quite look right and the lake is too small. Beautiful view though.

It looks similar to Many Glacier and I have been there. However, the ridge line to the left of the tall peak is kind of jagged, with tooth like peaks. So this cannot be view from Many Glacier
