Re: $350 HDMI Laptop Acer Aspire V5-131-2629.
i just sold an acer 5515 for $90. 15" screen. I really can't use screens smaller than that. Even my 10.4" ipad is not ideal for me. If it's just to hook to a tv though you may not care.
6.5 hr battery life in Acer speaks means 3 hours.

At least for netflix, buy a $35 google chromecast device instead and save yourself 90%:

What streaming services are you using? If netflix, hulu, HBO go, youtube you may be able to use something like Apple TV or roku which about $99. We are very pleased with Apple TV and it works really well our iPhones, iPod touch, and iPads. Photos, videos, music on out iPhone,iPod touch, iPads can be played on the TV via apple TV using airplay feature.

Some years ago I bought an Acer Aspire One AO722-BZ84, not for streaming, but for use when we travel. Late last year I bought a Mediabridge HDMI cable to see if I could use it for streaming video; as I recall I tried a video from PBS. It worked right away, but we haven't actually used it a lot for other reasons.

Re: $350 HDMI Laptop Acer Aspire V5-131-2629.
One problem with using Roku and other devices is that some content is website only, meaning you can't watch it on the Roku. I've been dealing with this same dilemma as I would love a more streamlined option than hooking my laptop up to the TV, via HDMI. We have a Roku, Android Tablet, Blu-ray players that stream, and a Wii that streams but when it comes time for dear spouse to watch her General Hospital on Hulu+, I lose my laptop access, as her love for GH outweighs my love for surfing this forum
To the OP, if you find a good solution, please update here. I've looked into the Chromebooks (would still have to use HDMI) but would keep my laptop available but I'm not sure if a Chromebook can stream the "website only" content on Hulu+. I've also looked into Chromecast to stream the Chrome Tab to the TV but have heard that this can cause issues with choppy playback and audio issues.

I bought my Acer laptop in April of 2008 and have not had a single issue with it. I did remove Windows Vista from it, and put XP pro back onto it.
Even educators need education. And some can be hard headed to the point of needing time out.

I bought almost the same exact system a year ago for the same price on Amazon.com (which makes me think that $350 price is a bit high). It has been great. It is my main computing system that I use everyday.
The only substantive difference I can see is that your processor is 1.50 GHz instead of 1.40 GHz like mine. You can see the CPU performance difference on this page:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/midlow_range_cpus.html
Overall CPU performance ratings:
Intel Celeron 1007U 1.50 GHz: 1408
Intel Celeron 877 1.40 GHz: 1337
It has no trouble decoding/playing HD streams using any of the popular CODECs, as far as I can tell.
The only other difference I can see is that your battery might be slightly larger.
Edit: One of my 3 USB ports is USB 3.0. I am surprised your machine does not have one.
