I've trained my wife well. (What stories do you have?)
Last night my wife surprised me. I mentioned that I hated to sell a bunch of our kids' DVDs on craigslist for just $25.
She said "Look at it this way, in 20 years, those DVDs will be worth nothing, but that $25 will have grown to $75."
I couldn't help but laugh at that. She's using my own logic against me!!!
I'm curious. What bogelhead-isms has your significant other used against you?

She's very frugel when it comes to whatever I want to buy.
The surest way to know the future is when it becomes the past.

Maybe your wife was trying to train you well.

She'll train you to sleep on the sofa if you show her the title to your thread

Yeah....I just mentioned to her that I posted that to bogleheads...she sort of laughed and said "you did NOT!"MN Finance wrote:She'll train you to sleep on the sofa if you show her the title to your thread

I was thinking that divorce was going to cost him more than the $50 dollars in future profits!
There are no guarantees, only probabilities.

That's about a 5.5% annualized return. How are you planning to invest that $25 to accomplish that?dandan14 wrote:in 20 years ... that $25 will have grown to $75.
For a term of exactly 20 years, EE bonds spring to mind, but that would only get you $50.
Maybe you could find a 20-year zero-coupon bond that would do the job?

Wives are definitely not trainable. Mine's been nattering about my same bad habits for 48 years.
(However, I'll admit that could mean that husbands are not trainable.)

Let's go one step further. This thread has run its course and is locked. See: Forum PolicyMN Finance wrote:She'll train you to sleep on the sofa if you show her the title to your thread
