2007 Honda Civic, 65000 miles.

I would have bought the hybrid model if I had known in 2006 that I was moving to NJ. When I bought the car, I had an all-freeway commute, and a hybrid wouldn't have saved enough in gas to be worth the price difference (or the environmental impact of making the car). Now, I do a lot more driving on surface streets, because I don't live near a freeway.

2007 Hummer with over 125,000 miles on it since bought new. It's been surprisingly trouble-free for someone who has come to expect Japanese reliability over the last 20 years.

This year I replaced the serpentine belt and the coolant hoses & coolant (afternoon garage job). Working on the brakes now - got the front axle done last Sunday. Rear axle will be next Sunday. Inspect rotors, swap pads and flush the brake fluid for fresh stuff. Have already changed the differential fluids a couple times and done a million oil changes.

About all the stealership has done was replace a steering axle thingy under warranty (defect), a couple alignment jobs (jumping curbs in the city and fallen logs in the swamp), replaced a broken hood cable and flushed the transmission fluid (couldn't be bothered for that one - all my experience is swapping oil out of 4-speed manuals).

Don't know what the hell I'm gonna do for the next vehicle since they don't make them any more. Ain't nothing quite like them on the road. 4' high snow banks cower in fear - can't wait for the first big snowfall of the season. :)

We also have a spare 2006 Honda CRV from the time we had an Au Pair for our son. Don't drive it much but comes in handy once in a while to haul some stuff around. Also my wife drives it when we do European Delivery for her BMW while we wait for the car to arrive.

2007 Toyota Corolla 109k miles

I'm pretty proud. Bought it in 2009 for a fairly low 8.4k sum. It was worth more than the purchase price through much of the recession due to used car values trending up. Installed cruise control myself too.

I drive a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. It has 50,900 miles. My wife drives a 2002 Toyota 4Runner with 160,000 miles. I'm thinking about getting another vehicle as my Jeep is my daily driver. The problem is I drive 60+ miles a day and the gas mileage is terrible. Also, it's a bumpy, noisy ride to and from work each day. It's gotten a bit old. The problem is my wife may need a new vehicle soon. Ideally, I get something fun and fast like a WRX STI, but not likely. I will probably continue to drive my Jeep for a few more years. We'll keep my wife's car for another couple of years (at least to 200,000 miles) and get her something first. We'll see.

1994 Ford Explorer - 120k, 2004 Toyota Highlander - 130k, just sold a 2002 Toyota Corolla (112k) and bought a 2013 Honda CR-V. I plan to sell the Explorer and drive the Honda until it becomes too much trouble -- hopefully a long time from now.

My wife and I live less than a mile from where we work, so we usually walk. The route is along quiet residential streets. On the occasions when one of us drives because of the weather or a need to do errands before or after work, I drive a 2000 Chevy Prizm (basically a Toyota Corolla clone) with about 175K miles on it, and she drives a 1990 Ford Festiva (a tiny hatchback) with about 45K miles on it. No, that's not a typo! We could probably count on one set of fingers the number of times that car has traveled more than ten miles from home, if we could remember those occasions. We live in a small town, and two miles gets us to the other side of town.

2001 Honda Odyssey, ~129,000 miles. Bought used in 2003 with ~45,000 miles when we found out my wife was expecting twins (sold 2001 Subaru Outback we bought new for the first baby, figuring we'd have 1 more child....)

2010 Toyota Prius, ~20,000 miles. Bought used this year with low miles, wanted a Prius again (sold a 2007 Prius last year-long story)

1999 Lexus LX470, ~53,000 miles. Inherited it from FIL who bought it new. Mostly sits in our garage and I've been trying to sell it.

1990 Specialized Rock Hopper, ~10,000 miles. Bought new as a high school graduation present, and my commuter bike for the arduous 1.0 mile commute. Round trip.

2000 Honda Odyssey 180,000 mis - we call call it the beast now, but still going like new.

I am retired and my only vehicle is a Kymco Super 8 125 cc Scooter (fully automatic). I absolutely love it. Cost brand new including everything was $1500. It is a Taiwanese brand.

Pictured here:

http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/kymco_ ... 5_2012.php

For times when it is raining, I carry a cheapo plastic pancho and a light rain jacket. I put a removable "Givi Box" on the back so I can haul a lot of groceries. It looks a lot like this:

Where I live the temperature rarely gets below 70 degrees day or night year-around. My average monthly gas bill is about $20 and getting around town (and also parking) in a motorbike is far easier than a car in this country.

We love cars and have too many, but I spend as much time in my 2011 Suburban as anything else. 30k miles. Great machine, now with a slight nod towards fuel economy in the form of active fuel management. And ... air conditioned seats? I laughed at the absurdity of a/c in the seats, until summer arrived.

2009 Honda Civic... Bought used for $14k in 2010

Already driven it for 2 years, will drive it for another 5 years, then my son gets it.... and he'll drive it for 6 years after that (hopefully)...

My 2003 Honda Civic I bought in 2005, I drove for 5 years, then gave it to my daughter 2 years ago, and she's still driving it today... It should easily last 2 more years of college, then her first year of a job.

I am an early retiree so I don't drive much, wlthough when I was working (full-time and part-time) I did not drive much, either.

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla I bought new which has 18,000 miles. Before that, I had a 1991 Geo Prism (which is basically a Corolla) I bought used in 1992 with 10,000 miles already on it and put another 50,000 miles on it in the next 15 years. I expect the Corolla to last me at least 15 years (maybe I'll put 50,000 miles on it by then!).

2002 Camry (bought brand new in October 2001) with 80K miles on it.
2008 Honda CR-V, all-wheel drive model, (bought brand new in Jan 2008) with 35K miles on it.
I drive CR-V from April to Ocotber of the year and wife drives it during winter months. I drive Camry (with snow tires) during winter months.
We roughly put about 8k miles a year on each of our cars.

Those Geo/Chevy Prizms that folks have mentioned are GREAT little cars. I believe GM & Toyota went in together and built the Prizms and Corollas at the same factory in California. The Prizms are surely some of the best built GM cars ever. They just keep on going, and it's amazing how many of them are still on the roads once you start to notice them.

I had a 2001 Honda Accord that I would have gladly kept driving too, until someone deliberately drove into the side of my car when it was parked in a Home Depot lot. Many witnesses. It was harassment due to my work.

Have a 2011 Subaru Outback now, because the Subaru place is across the street from the Honda place, and I knew Honda was playing with me to pay more, and I did not respect that so I left.

Even though my car turns 14 this month, I can't seem to justify replacing it. It still runs great and I don't drive many miles these days since I commute to work by train. Hopefully I can keep it another year or two.

how about Arnold Schwarzenegger's Unimog
Unimog's are great (but not exactly for cruising the streets in LA). A friend of my grandfather had one (he had a large farm) and we used it quite often for doing work in our forest. It could go to areas where you would never go with any type of other vehicle because most of it was in very steep terrain.
