Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
I like the Beast hot sauce, quite hot while still having good overall flavor. The wife likes Tabasco Jalapeno, their chipotle, and Frank's red hot. I like to grow various chiles and then slow smoke/dry them, grind them up and use for BBQ rub and wing sauce. Got some Red Savina, Serranos, and Jalapenos going now. The raw Serranos are good infused in blue agave tequila for kicking margaritas with fresh lime juice, agave nectar, and a little fresh watermelon juice, too.

Sriracha for anything Asian.
Tabasco for eggs and pizza.
Texas Pete's Hotter Hot Sauce is nice on collard greens and other leafy veggies.
Sometimes if I need something extra spicy, I like to chop up a fresh habanero and mix it up in whatever I'm eating.
I've never tried Frank's. I'll have to pick some up and give it a go.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
I'm firmly in the vinegary hot sauce camp. Nice to see some others there too!
Tabasco original for all around most versatile, especially eggs and hiding in sauces and stews.
Crystal for pizza.
Frank's and Texas Pete also make a showing depending on the mood.
Cholula, Sriracha, anything chipotle-based are too tomato-pasty for my tastes.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
Dave's insanity sauce is probably my favorite. Frankly, anything spicier than that and all you're tasting is fire.
Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
Frank's for everyday use.
Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
Big fan of Cholula
Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
Scorned Woman Original Hot Sauce...good flavor, good heat.

I just have a grinder with capsaicin.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
I grow my own chilies and make my own. I have a bumper crop of habaneros, serranos, cayennes, Thais, Kung Paos (which I think are a cayenne hybrid), poblanos, and, with a little luck, bhut jolokias that'll be ripening in the next month or so. I usually just slice up some ripe chilies and add them to whatever I'm eating. (Ripe ones are much better than green ones: they're a lot sweeter. It's annoying that you cannot get ripe serranos or jalapeños in the supermarket.)
I make a habanero, tomatillo, and orange salsa that is wicked good!
I rarely buy hot sauce, but my mom sent me some Humboldt Hot Sauce - an habanero/mango concoction - that's quite tasty.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
I like all of the Tabasco sauces but at this point in time the Habanero Tabasco is my preferred.
I also like Yukatan Sunshine Habanero sauce. Those two have decent flavor and heat and go great on everything!
There are two habanero sauces at my local Mexican restaurant, there is a green and a red sauce both of the same brand (looked them up: El Yucateco)
Sriracha is great to have a different kick. I also have a spicy stir fry sauce that is great on any rice or Asian flavor.

I guarantee that if you can get your hands on Maria Sharp's (made in Belize) you will never look back. It is incredible, and many of my friends and workmates have become addicted to it. It's available at Light My Fire at their store here in LA (Farmers Market at 3rd/Fairfax) and also via their website http://www.hotsaucetogo.com). I personally go for the "Hot Hot Sauce"; the Fiery Hot is a bit over the top but not too bad. see http://www.hotsaucetogo.com/product.php ... 13&page=11

A third vote for Sriracha aka Rooster Sauce
Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
just went out and bought "SRIRACHA Chili Sauce"... very good stuff
Also bought "CHILI GARLIC SAUCE" by Huy Fong Foods, Inc... A little bit better than SRIRACHA.
still like the Indian Ex Hot Pepper.
Fun way to play in retirement...always looking for a better hot sauce..

Tabasco chipotle is a pleasure and finally puts the chipotle in Chipotle if you know what I mean.
I also enjoyed Yucatan habanero, but am interested in finding something more, shall we say, challenging?
Surprisingly, and this is more rub than sauce, I've been consistenly more pleased with the scent and singe of CVS crushed red pepper. Yes, that CVS. I don't know what to tell you. It's doppio.

Melinda's hot sauces, especially the Scotch Bonnet. Buy it by the case!
Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
I think Tabasco original is the most versatile but sriracha is great on Asian food. I also recommend the El Yucateco "Kutbil-Ik". Spicy but very tasty.

Pizza, eggs, etc. Cholula

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
Can't narrow it down to one.
1. For when I need the "nuclear option": Sambal Olek.
Red chili paste and a little vinegar and garlic--
the Malaysian/Indonesian cousin of Sriracha.
2. For everyday use: Trader Joe's Habanero & Lime Salsa.
Not as hot as you'd expect. Amazing balance of flavors.
Also usually have a bottle of Tabasco or Cholula on hand.

Not exactly a hot sauce, but I like a good Chicago Giardenara, my favorite is Fiori's Deli...they pack their own in Ball Jars.

Now this is a topic I can warm up to...
Sriracha for asian-esque.
Good old vinegar & red pepper for pork bbq.
Frank's for general. Red Rooster gets honorable mention in this category.

I'm a fan of Cholula and Tabasco Chipotle. I also like Sriracha but have always wondered what is in it that keeps health food stores such as Whole Foods and Vitamin Cottage from selling it.

What, no love for Salsa Valentina, Tapatio or Bufalo?
I prefer Thai style sriracha to the Huy Fong version, but both have their place.
Oh, and various sambals. Believe it or not they complement durian wonderfully, cutting the richness.

The Pepper Plant brand's "Original California Style Hot Pepper Sauce" available on Amazon. Unbelievable. Chunky, great on eggs.

Re: What's Your Favorite Hot Sauce?
So many hot sauces, so little time. If I have to pick a favorite it's Marie Sharp's, specifically the Hot Habanero--it seems to meld with everything. It's actually carrot based. I like Cholula in my micheladas. Oh, and Sriracha mixed with a bit of mayo makes a great condiment for an egg sandwich. I've got to try Rich's--if Ferri recommends it I'm sure it's good.
