How not to invest

Post by nisiprius »

1. While drinking morning coffee, read the news:
Arabica Coffee Futures Hit 14-Year High
Starbucks CEO: Hedge Funds, Speculators to Blame for High Coffee Prices
Hard Times Mean Cuban Coffee Tastes of Peas Again.

2. Ask "Is there an ETF for that?"

iPath DJ-UBS Coffee, (JO)
iPath Pure Beta Coffee (CAFE)

3. Don't waste time on wonky stuff like the prospectus, or exactly what they invest in--bags of mild washed arabica beans or coffee growing companies or futures contracts. Hey, it's all coffee. If coffee goes up, all that stuff is gonna go up. Hurry! Buy it or short it, but, whatever you do, do something about it. Right away! Why? Because it's in the news!

Quick, get your order on the screen and hover your mouse over the "order" button so you can click on it the instant the market opens. Get in there first. Before everyone else reads The Wall Street Journal.

Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness; Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery.

Not yet, so you have to buy the coffee ETF and short the caffeine ETF.

I buy coffee at McDonalds. It's priced right.

I am pleased that coffee prices are so much in the news. It shouldn't take long for investors who missed to silver run-up to get in on this and run it up a little further before it crashes back to earth.

Then we can enjoy cheaper coffee with a smile :-).

Just.

Don't forget about alternative pharma sector funds:
(WEED) and (GNJA)

Never invested personally, but heard about 'em "on the street".

How about Global X Rolls Out Fishing ETF? :P
Global X, the New York-based exchange-traded fund firm known for its niche strategies focused on commodities and the emerging markets, rolled out a global fishing ETF today that owns companies around the world involved in various aspects of seafood markets.
Paul
...and then Buffy staked Edward. The end.
