What is your net worth
What is your net worth
I am not looking for a reply, just a poll response. Pick the number that you are under. If your net worth, assets-liabilities (include home equity and mortgage) is 300,000 you would choose the 500K option.

Did the January thread come with instructions like a 1040? Some people must have a lotta time on their hands - or accountants?

Aw man, I'm just below one of the options. A couple more pay periods with positive returns and I would have been significantly wealthier according to this poll.

Re: What is your net worth
would the poll have more relevance if it included age as well as net worth to put things in perspective?
knowing at what point others reached or surpassed my number might be a bit depressing yet informative!

Download the spreadsheet from the net worth survey thread. You can then chart age against net worth.1530jesup wrote:would the poll have more relevance if it included age as well as net worth to put things in perspective?

Is this for singles or for couples? My wife has saved more than I have, so this would make a difference of two buttons for me.

Re: What is your net worth
Yea, if it is for each person in a couple, I'd do much worse than H, because he has most of our retirement assets, plus he inherited a significant amount from his relatives. Doesn't seem quite right that the net worth of couples is treated the same as the net worth of a single--maybe cut the net worth of a couple in half? Also, for us, it made a huge difference of before or after paying for college tuition for the kids and other major expenses, how close one is to retirement, and whether and how to factor in defined benefit pension.
How does one value a defined benefit pension that includes COLA anyway? It's tough to find a good calculator that is able to give a present day value on one which includes a 55% survivorship benefit.

I chose 100 million plus because, as the OP states, my net worth is under this amount.

5 voted 100 Million plus. It may be a coincidence but I was recently looking for someone new to call uncle.

Re: What is your net worth
So what direction do we think the response selection bias is in a poll like this? Are lower wealth types more likely to respond because they have less to lose from revealing their net worth in a semi-secure forum, or are higher wealth types more likely to respond because they can't help showing off?
