How do you access Vanguard account?
How do you access Vanguard account?
Do you use the full web site through your browser?
Do you use the app for your iPad?
Just curious how you do this and whether you prefer one over the other.
Thanks BH'ers!

Re: How do you access Vanguard account?
I access it through my smartphone and my MacBook. Both work fine. Transferring my wife's simple IRA I do through the MacBook. Anything else I need to do I can I use either.

Re: How do you access Vanguard account?
I usually just use my laptop. Sometimes I use my smartphone if I feel lazy. More commonly I access the Vanguard website to see their articles and announcements without actually logging into my accounts.

Browser on laptop at home. If I need to access it during the day at work, it is in a browser running on a virtual Windows machine on a Linux desktop.
Occasionally, I'll login from my tablet, but I don't care much for the interface.

Website from a desktop, connected by a wire.
I do in fact very occasionally peek at certain financial accounts if I am traveling for more than a couple of days, using my cell phone for accounts with cell phone access and a tablet over WiFi for others. My reasoning is that the risk of my access causing my account to be compromised is lower than the benefit of detecting any problem early.
My account was once compromised during a trip--$1,000 fraudulent charge to a company that takes credit cards for Internet casino payments. I don't think it was a technological compromise, I think it was the clerk at the sketchy motel... can't prove it, though.
With my credit card I want to notice and report anything bogus within 48 hours. In theory, the data exchanges are https encrypted once they leave my tablet. I know that physical keyboards radiate--not so sure it's quite as easy with an touchscreen software-simulated keybaord. But in any case, whatever might happen in a big-city Internet cafe, I seriously question how many Russian hackers are using a telescope to look over my shoulder when I am parked in my car outside the public library in Chateaugay, New York. They're not going to catch a lot of fish in that pond.
But I don't usually access my Vanguard account while traveling as there is almost never any need.

Desktop and laptop for me. I have yet to feel comfortable accessing any of our financial accounts on a cellphone.

I use my desktop, Ipad, and phone. I use the two-factor authentication. I occasionally use a private (not public) computer away from home but never register. The only computer registered is my home desktop.
I think I prefer the Ipad most because I can access it reclining in a chair.

Re: How do you access Vanguard account?
I use a desktop or a laptop and I use Vanguard's 2 factor authentication which is a coded number sent to my cellphone which I then enter during the login process. This process started in December

I also just signed up for their new account activity alerts. I have not used it yet but this is what it does.
"As part of our ongoing effort to protect your Vanguard account, we've added a new security feature for our web-registered clients. Effective immediately, you'll automatically receive email alerts when you buy, sell, or exchange Vanguard mutual funds and when you add, delete, or change your bank information. This will allow you to track account activity as it occurs.
While you'll continue to receive a confirmation each time a transaction is finalized, the email alerts will notify you moments after a transaction is initiated and will include details of the transaction."
I really like both features as it adds security to my account.

Access my account from desktop only. I'll poke around the Vanguard site on my iPhone or tablet but don't sign in. Security of mobile devices is my concern though I concede that may be misguided!

I either use the Android app or login from a Linux live cd running on my laptop. Although I try to run a clean machine Windows wise, you never know what could be lurking.
