In 2010 I filed a tax return, but I immediately noticed my accountant messed up a ton of stuff so I had to file amended return.
Among the items corrected was a missing form 8606 for 2010 (I made a nondeductible TIRA contribution), which I included in the amended return.
I am somewhat concerned about whether or not the IRS received the form 8606 -- I'm pretty sure I included it in the amended return but would like proof it was filed.
Is my fear unreasonable at all? Is this something I could get a copy of back from the IRS?
Thanks.
Copy of Old Form 8606
Re: Copy of Old Form 8606
If you want a copy of the actual form, it will cost you $57. But a transcript is free and will show what forms #s were included. Seems that would suffice in your case:
