"The OPs question wasn't how to reduce his expenses to live on less so he could retire early. His question was can he retire early with 100K in expenses."
Wouldn't you expenses be cut dramatically once both kids are out of college and working on their own?

2 Million is the "high" that the Lawyers are aiming to settle for. It will issued to my Mother and some dispersed to the family. Anyway I think that scenario warrants its own thread and doesn't necessarily apply here. I will be posting again in the future hopefully.
Any general advice would still be appreciated. My immediate short term concern is taxes related to the settlement. Thanks for the book recommendation. This website really changed my outlook on finances and i'm glad to have found it!

The HR provider is insperity, they have retirement options listed on their website but no details. What would be the benefit of going through my employer rather than say sharebuilder? Would this replace or supplement the target date fund?
That said... my current plan is to:
1) Pay Down CC Debt aggressively
2) Check into Student Loan interest/refinance options.
3) Focus on saving aggressively once credit card is paid.
4) Start Target Date Fund
With 3&4 I should have 800/mo to safely save/invest.
Thanks for all the advise. Its starting to look better...

I know whats like to be in that credit card bind. Like you, I had a credit card balance with at 22% APR. My monthly interest was $160/mo which made it difficult to pay down. In order to reduce the interest, I used another credit card balance transfer offer for 0% APR for 12 months. It cost 4% (which was less than 2 months worth of interest). This allowed me to pay off 100% of the balance each month andI should have it all payed off in 4 months. Alternatively you can call them and ask them to lower the APR.. Good luck

-Invest for both short and long term
Short Term - I'd like to pay down debt, and build up savings aggressively. I'm paying $1500/mo to my credit card and it should be gone in 4 months. I don't know the interest rate on my student loans but I'll look at that tonight. I believe I have 5 different loans which could possibly be consolidated? Once that is paid I will have about 800/mo to invest/save.
In ~5 years I'd like to move into a home of my own.
Long Term - I'd like to start saving towards retirement.

Thank you for recommending VTTVX - Is it your personal choice or one that you feel is suited for my goals? I recall comparing it with Retirement 2045 which 90% was stocks. Then things became more confusing.
The stocks were purchased when wrong advice was given. Which eventually led me to Boggleheads guide and this website.
No 401K saved unfortunately
