My normal holding time for funds & stocks is 2-6 months. I follow these on a daily basics. I've very conformable with trading in and out of bonds funds ever 2-3 months, so far its paid off.

This week (first week June) there was a big sell off in some bonds funds. Vanguard funds I own (VFIIX, VFSTX) were down 1.0 and 0.4% for week.

My take,Schwab will keep fees low for about 18-24 months.
I have there checking-brokerage account,bought ( SWARX ) Retirement Income in past two months. Expenses .10%
Most of my assets at Vanguard.

Age 50-65
Bonds 60%
Stocks 40%

VTI - US Stocks 10%
EEM- Emerging Markets 10%
VNQ- REIT 10%
DBC- Commodities 10%

Put 20% in each class.
