Having a new car would be worth probably $2-3K for me compared to a 1-year old car with 5K miles, even if the pre-owned car has an extended warranty. - DDB

My opinion is if you keep car for 10 plus years and if it is Honda, Toyota or other high resale car, I think buying new over used will not be a big difference in the long run.

The Toyota Highlander is pretty close. We compared the two a few years ago and went with the Highlander. We love it, have no complaints at all. At the time it was about 8k more for the RX.
