Re: Economics of eating out
Hey Y'all, Hmmmm, haven't done this in a while...be patient... I don't think you really want to find Hamburger for under $2 a pound... See the thing about McDonald meat no one is talking about is they copy righted the phrase "100 % pure beef" which in reality means not 100% pure beef, its very orwellian, if you think about it... Nice one corporate geniuses... So you really can't compare a McDouble with a real beef hamburger its just not the same thing... Because you can't buy the same meat McDonalds uses to make their burgers...Its not the same as ground beef at the grocery store...Its been modified... Plus, I don't really view eating a McDouble as a food experience like dining out somewhere that might even remotely resemble cuisi...

Hey Y'all,
Just finished 'Hemingways' boat'...wow, I really haven't read any hemingway aside from 'The sun also rises', along time ago...
In some ways, it makes me want to read his other stuff...
Also finished a short 'Confederate War' by Gary Gallagher...He puzzles out some interesting thoughts on Confederate side of Civil War, leaves some unanswered...Includes some pictures of the conflict, I hadn't previously seen...
Happy Holidays

Re: Do you drink milk?
Hey Y'all, I have switched to Vitamin D milk, because it has the most calcium enriched nutrients of all milk types, aside from whole milk... You see folks; Calcium is fat soluble, meaning it is dissolved in the fat, take away the fat, Skim milk, you take away the calcium...Then you need to take calcium supplements cause there is no calcium that can be absorbed from your Skim milk... Also;Dairy has no impact on the Glycemic index, people...People with diabetes, are very susceptile to spikes in blood sugar...The Glycemic index will show you that not all carbs are the same... Get with the program, look at the Mediterranean Diet, it has the most fat of all diets...Fat is not evil...Get real...My mom had this thing about not using butter and adv...

Hey Y'all,
I forgot to mention, Women in Love, D.H. Lawerence...
It was on a list of novels to read, maybe its not suited for the 21st century, but it wasn't as awesome as I expected...
I read Ulysses, by Joyce, it was difficult to get the book, firstly, then it was written in dialect that made it difficult to stay with...
Maybe I should read again, hmmmmmm...or not...

Hey Y'all,
What a bunch of cheapskates!!! Yesh!!!
I was toying with the fact that Diet Juice is only 50% juice and the other is water, filtered water...
So, I thought why not just buy the 100% juice, instead of the diet juice and water it down myself...
It would end up being 50% juice and I am not paying for their water, filtered water...
I haven't started this practice, yet, but I have been considering it...Any thoughts???

Hey Y'all,
I found a Tony Scott/Ridley Scott version of Gettysburg at my local library...Done fer the History Channel...
It is an interesting re-telling of the great battle that leaves out the Maine troopers, but tells it from 8 other points of view...
Much better beards in this one than the movie with Martin Sheen...
And it only took 90 minutes...

Hey Y'all,
I saw the original with John Wayne, to give me some background, before watching the new one...
I like both of them for their own merits...I like that Matt Damon stepped up and totally owned his character...Glen Campbell did his best, not being an actor, but an awesome guitar player and singer...
I would recommend it...
Be well, Jethro2007

Aside from his overuse of the word "hitherto" (who even uses this word anymore???, Really!!!) and some lengthy combination sentences, this book was enlightening and readable...Lots of book references for future reading...
92 Russians died for every American death in WW2...The stuff they never taught us in High School World History...and more...

Hey Y'all,
When I was younger man... I trained for long distance racing...
Running 60-80 miles a week and I never had a 6 pack...
One year we checked our body fat and I think I was around 5%, then...
And guess what? No six pack, still...
Physical fitness is important, but I have seen it taken to the extreme and ridiculous for vanity...
Hava great summer y'all...

Hey Y'all,
70's...yup, I wuz dere...
I recently picked up an acoustic guitar made in 1971, sounds nice and mellow...its a yamaha and made my fingers raw, but only for the first few days...
I saw some of the best movies ever, and most were on TV...
I remember seeing Easy Rider and they showed the part at the end where the Hippie biker flips off the Redneck holding the shotgun and his deja vu nightmare comes to life...for a 10 year old it was pretty powerful stuff...
Say is that freedom rock, man?? Well, turn it up!!!

Hey there,
Hmmmm, very interesting... I was going to suggest adjusting your medication...or even changing to your other meds...just until it passes...
I remember an ex-grlfrnd having a noisy attic and setting a live trap, but never caught anything, which turned out to be mice...so small they would eat the bait and crawl out through the cage...so she set up mouse traps...
Ending the noise in the attic, but she still has mice...and it was built in the 80's, I think...must have a small opening some wheres...
Saw an episode of Ask TOH; where the vent stack was not secured and everytime water was used in house, there was a rapping sound of the vent stack vibrating against the framing...
I am still intrigued...

I was listening to a radio program last night called Boots on the Ground; http://www.wnyc.org/news/articles/151115 And then it happened...I heard some poetry that raised the hair on the back of my neck... Its called; Here, Bullet... http://www.alicejamesbooks.org/images/hb_press_kit.pdf Considering the array of media outlets available today as opposed to 33 years ago; I am coming to the conclusion that there may not be just one place, a summation of all the events written/woven into a single tragic/hip/profane/violent book... I have read several books on serving and reporting in Iraq, but somehow they lacked the po...

Shovel snow; Yer talking about sweeping snow...
Hey all,
Hmmmmm, any thing less than 6 inches is sweeping snow, up here in the land of lake effect snow...
Snow blowers or plows work well, but for those that feel the need for physical exercise use a Scoop...Its not shoveling as much as it is relocating... Check this out; http://www.silverbear.biz/products/scoops/index.html
Fer you flatlanders, not accustomed to snow, its all about the technique...
Enjoy yer winter wonderlands...Happy Holidays Y'all...

Play guitar??? Play Guitar!!!! Oh yeah... Bryan Adams
Hey all, I wanted to play guitar so bad, as a youth...I thought it was just the coolest thing there was; I scoured our local music store for the cheapest guitar and came away with a 3/4 size classical acoustic guitar that was strung with steel strings, no case fer about $50... I was able to come to the realization that it wouldn't tune with steel strings before the tail piece was physically torn from the body by the force of the steel strings...Talk about learning first hand... Once I had it strung with the correct strings(Nylon), I practiced till I got callouses on each of my fingers...I was enamoured with chording; However, the extra wide neck of the Classical style guitar didn't lend itself to barre chords easily...I wonder if the extra ...

Is that Freedom Rock?!!! Well, turn it UP!!!
Hey all, Hmmmm, I picked up the strat, tonight, and started channeling Keith Richards; jamming on Brown Sugar from my Booze Rock band days... So its 2:00 am, I'm sure the neighbors are Keef fans, by now...ahahhahahahahha...I probably haven't jammed that tune for almost 25 years... Yup, played in a bar band, back in the bad ole days of over driven solid state amps and the girls with no regrets(No weight limits either)...We played an eclectic mix of boozy stumbler songs and tunes you should never dance to, unless you have been drinkin' like; Mony Mony, Jenny Jenny, Rock n Roll all night ,Feel Like Makin Love and Brown Sugar...I feel like we invented the Booze Rock Genre; I can't believe people actually danced to these tunes, but I bear witnes...

The Great War...
Hey all, I read the book, The First Day on the Somme; It was thoroughly researched and I thought a good read; I can't remember how long the entire frontal attack was 16-25 miles?; But it was only successful over short sections where the attackers were already waiting in No Mans Land, had effective artillery fire or rushed across...A few units were given soccer balls to kick as they strolled across No Mans Land, I think they reside in the British War museum, today...Lack of Heavy Artillery, and lack of effective artillery/mortars to cut the barbed wire and damage front units was just one of the failing points to the strategy...Once the British infantry units had smashed through the German lines; Cavalry was supposed to charge through and mak...

Hey all,
Just putting this thought out there; Not condoning his behavior...
He lived like a billionaire, for twenty years...maybe more...
Did all the things, bought all the things, enjoyed all the things that vast wealth could buy... He is an old man, now...What more could he be wanting after living at such a level???
He can't buy immortality;Maybe he realized this:
We all die; Its pretty final...Rich on other peoples money or in prison...

Re: On the cover of the Rolling Stone...
Hey all, Hmmmm, beg pardon, but Robert Johnson never played an electric guitar, ever...and while I have never heard BB King acousticly, I believe all those listed have some work, somewhere, displaying their abilities on acoustic instruments... "If it sounds good, it is Good..." - Duke Ellington Tell you what. Go to youtube and do a search for Variations on a Theme of Mozart. Click on the black and white video of Segovia performing this piece. Then tell me if you see anyone on the above list who demonstrates the phrasing, articulation, nuance, and subtlety -- all with seeming effortlessness -- of Segovia. No histrionics and no grating amplification -- just sheer mastery and genius. I do enjoy music besides classical, but nobody on...

On the cover of the Rolling Stone...
Hey all, Hmmmm, beg pardon, but Robert Johnson never played an electric guitar, ever...and while I have never heard BB King acousticly, I believe all those listed have some work, somewhere, displaying their abilities on acoustic instruments... Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the mainstream music magazine called Rolling Stone??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_Stone and a quote from this link; One major criticism of Rolling Stone Magazine involves its apparent generational bias toward the 1960s and 1970s. Not trying to be divisive or snaky, ergo, my attempts to hip fellow enthusiasts to those who shaped the sounds found on the list by Rolling Stone... Much respect for music in all shapes and forms... "If it sounds good, it is Good....
