Re: Rolling an old 401k into another old 401k?

Hi all, I've got the following financial set-up right now: 1) Old 401(k) w/ great fees ($60/year) 2) Old 403(b) with mediocre fees (0.5%/year) 3) Current 401(k) w/ terrible fees (1+%/year) I would like to get my money out of the 403(b) and preferrably roll it into 401(k) #1. Is such a thing possible? I've never heard of anyone doing that and have tried to google a ton but haven't had any luck as results are all about either rolling a 401k into IRAs or rolling things into current 401k plans. You might wonder why not just roll things from my 403(b) into some IRAs, but I'm trying to avoid having a traditional IRA as I believe I will need to start doing backdoor Roth conversions next year since I will pass out of the Roth IRA phaseout limit. I...

I don't know the correct question to ask. I have spent a while looking around the site and using google search, but I need help. The area of my interest is "which accounts to draw down first". I was looking for specific discussions and also help in the wiki's. I have a friend who is asking and I wanted to send some links of appropriate information and discussions. Thanks in advance.

That will cost about $5 at depot. Take the picture and ask for help. I just spent the last month repairing my landscape. At first glance it looks like the item is not screwed on "enough". If that is a plastic screw on cap, turn off the water to the irrigation, get some Teflon tape at hardware store, wrap it and rescrew it. Regardless what it is , it will be a simple repair.

Re: Life Insurance for Estate Planning Purposes

Just read a chapter in an estate planning book praising the use of life insurance (at pennies on the dollar) for paying future estate tax. Though the need right now is far lower than in the past, we may get back to a point soon where it will get more attention. That prompted me to search this forum on the subject and I spent the past hour reading about it, where I found among other things the following quote: "You can have $400k in your assets out of every $1mil go to the IRS in taxes... or you can pay about $70k-$90k (over your life span) to cover that $400k in estate taxes." My head is spinning and it hurts! Can someone please explain in simple terms how this actually works? I'm not talking about life insurance to replace incom...

Re: Hard To Leave USAA

Hi, Just need a quick reality check. Have had USAA insurance for past 20 years - I am not a military service member, but my father-in-law was in the service many many years ago, which made us eligible. My policies have included a $5 mil umbrella policy, and feel "attached" to it. Service has overall been good in handling minor issues - one car accident all these years. But prices have risen relatively rapidly, especially for my house which goes up every year, and seem high to me. And now adding a new teen driver increases our premium by $2000 - $1500 for auto policy and $500 increase to umbrella. Questions: (1) Am I crazy not to shop around to other insurers like Geico and other companies I see people on this board use? Will ther...

Re: Financial steps upon parent's death: trustee duties & other tasks

1. You should not need to involve the trust lawyers unless you decide to transfer (leave) the assets into trusts for the three of you. Otherwise banks (and other asset holders in the trust) will just need to see the revocable trust agreement. I would have a consultation with the lawyer who created the trust. Often, it is free or part of the package of when s/he created a set of documents. There may be some state-specific things you need to do. For example, unless you have been a trustee for over a year and know for sure that there are no surprise bills or outstanding loans to her out there, you may need to publish a notice of death that gives a deadline for submitting claims. There is also a state-specific waiting period between certain st...

I was talking to my Mercedes service guy recently. He said that corporate indicates they don't see the chip supply being solved until late 2022. They don't have cars to sell, they sold the 91 loaners and are using Toyota's as loaners (part of Penske group). They have had one car since early November and are unable to get parts. What used to take 4 days from Germany now takes weeks. They had a part on a ship on east coast, took 4 weeks to get it off loaded to shore and FedEx has had in a warehouse for 2 weeks, still hasn't been shipped (when I talked with him).

Our Class B fits in standard parking spaces, and maneuvers as well as the full-size van it is mounted on. We exercise it with grocery shopping, using the refrigerator and freezer to keep purchased items cold. It is also very handy to have a clean, private restroom facility with us wherever we go. Running a Class B regularly keeps it fully maintained, and always ready for use. Agree. We have a class B and we can go just about anywhere because of it's size. Re: Yubikey? Collective wisdom sought.

I have been reading this string and the Yubi site. We have 2 dell computers and 2 iphones. What is the best combination of Yubikeys for us? Would it be to just get 2 "YubiKey 5Ci FIPS - Dual connector capabilities supporting USB-C and Lightning"?
