Re: problem with Amica, what to do next?

I got a followup phone call from Amica. The customer service person I spoke to had been able to review the recordings of my phone calls with Amica and we were able to discuss exactly what happened and where the communication problems occur. From that discussion I must say that part of the problem wa...

Re: problem with Amica, what to do next?

Thanks everyone for the replies. Alskar, I appreciate hearing your story and it's certainly much worse than what I experienced! The suggestion to get an email confirmation every time is a great idea that I wish I had thought of. I will contact Amica through the email address in this thread. I will a...

problem with Amica, what to do next?

My family has been with Amica for 14 years, we have home, auto, and umbrella insurance through them. Everything has gone well until the recent problem. We recently purchased a ne...

Re: Life insurance with hazardous activities

Thanks for the replies. We were indeed quoted a price including a flat extra. We will look into getting multiple quotes from different companies to see if we can do better and avoid the flat extra; thanks as well for that AAC insurance recommendation which looks quite promising.

Life insurance with hazardous activities

Does anyone have good information on the best way to apply for term life insurance or the best companies to consider when you participate in "hazardous activities"? (In our case, rock climbing.) We got quotes through term4sale, were contacted by an agent at Accuquote, and the annual premiu...

Re: A 10-year TIPS auctioned today with a postive yield ...

That algorithm that Larry [Swedroe] devised years ago helped me. And it just makes common sense as well.

Re: What are you seeing in your Local Housing Market?

Where I live the median house price is $255k. Houses in this price range go in hours. Developments that started in 2008 and stalled are now being built out. It is a seller's market. I live an hour north of Denver on the front range. Echoing this, in the Denver area the market is hot. Houses around ...

considering more aggressive asset allocation

I've been following the Boglehead approach for some time and have been reading the forum recently, but this is my first post. Thanks for taking a look. Here's a summary of my and my partner's information: Emergency funds: We have an emergency fund. Debt: We have a mortgage at 3.5% Tax Filing Status:...
