started small, 50$ then 100$ per month for each of my two kids. I've been maintaining 1k/month each for the past few years. Shooting for 100% for 4 year ( 1 private, 1 public) by the time the oldest is ready to go (6 years).

Good question. I tried running the numbers, Doing it that way would have overall interest savings of a little under 18k...not as good as option A.

I actually ended up with a 10 yr 4.25 from the Money Store, so I think I'm going to go for it.
