Re: Sell Home Depot?

The obvious concern with owning an individual stock is you take on uncompensated risk. Stocks are priced to what they would be worth in a diversified portfolio. Since it is only 2% of your portfolio, it's not a big deal for you. In your situation, I would hold onto it but reinvest dividends elsewhere.

Re: Credit For Defaulter

You've talked a whole lot about what you want. What does your niece want? Does she want a new car and all the new debt you're "helping" her get?

Re: Frustrated with Health Insurance Premiums for 2017

The self employed crowd really got the shaft on this one. You are drowning in one heck of a terrible risk pool. I don't see a way out of this without finding a job with insurance or early retiring on $12,000 of "income" per year. Can you somehow create your own risk pool?

Re: 2017 ACA plan previews

Fat people aren't the problem. The problem is we haven't defined how much an 85 year old life is worth. Medical costs get astronomical as you age, and the system is set up to do whatever it takes to help someone without any thought whatsoever as to the amount of resources it costs to do it. Should we spend a million dollars to keep an 85 year old alive an extra month? I don't know, but we do it, and then we complain that we're spending too much.
