Which Debt to focus on first?

I only have two debts right now. My car (less than 10K) and my student loan (about 23K). Normally, I would focus on my the loan with the highest interest rate, however since student loans have some protections if anything happens, I am inclined to focus on my car loan. What is the benefit of auto payments on your student loans if you can't pay the high interest ones first ? The autopayment reduces my interest by 1.25% and ensures its on time.
