Re: Health insurance - any recommendations?

Thanks for everyones feedback and help. I spoke with some local insurance agents and seems Healthnet at $105 / month, $4k deductible/max out of pocket is best option for now. Dental and Eye care seem to be a whole different discussion but general consensus seems to be that they usually are never wor...

Re: Health insurance - any recommendations?

Thanks for the link Jeffy, I already checked that. Those still have the couple thousand deductibles and then out of pocket expense max around 6-7k. It seems that Cigna and Blue Cross offer better plans at the moment than what the exchange is estimated at for 2014. It seems that I might just have to ...

Re: Health insurance - any recommendations?

Unfortunately that site doesn't service California. All the plans I'm seeing have deductibles starting in the thousands. Could it be that California is just very high health insurance state?

Agree. I have direct blue. I'm 34 and pay $125 a month with a $250 deductible. That is 90/10 coverage. I didn't think that was too bad.

How did you find that insurance plan? Seems like every plan I'm looking at starts with deductibles of at least $1-3k

Health insurance - any recommendations?

I am about to be 26 years old, self employed, and need to have health insurance in place within the next month. Wanted to see if you guys had any recommendations of companies / websites to get quotes and compare information. I don't have any medical problems and don't go to the doctor much. I have d...

Article on Active Vanguard funds outdid Index - Thoughts?

I was just reading this article and wondering what people's thoughts were: http://www.thestreet.com/story/11851049/1/vanguards-formula-for-beating-mutual-fund-benchmarks.html It basically discusses how Vanguard's active managed funds have outperformed the index funds over the past 30 years (especial...

Re: Please help with redoing my portfolio - Age 26

One question I forgot to ask, is there any pros vs cons of transferring the current assets in my brokerage account as-is (in-kind transfer) and then selling them once they are in the Vanguard account to buy the new funds I mentioned above compared to having Vanguard liquidate them on the transfer an...

Re: Please help with redoing my portfolio - Age 26

I have been doing a more in depth review of everything and putting together a plan. I am still reading and researching so I might make adjustments but this is what I am thinking of as my plan so far taking in to account everything you guys have been saying and also my own research. At the end I will...

Re: Please help with redoing my portfolio - Age 26

Thank you again for the additional responses, this has been extremely helpful in pushing myself towards the right direction on how to even begin. For my marginal tax rates (federal and state), I made very little to no income last year (still waiting on my accountant to get back to me as I am on exte...

Re: Please help with redoing my portfolio - Age 26

Hi, Thank you so much for the advice already. I have made the suggested changes to my post to try and explain the funds better and expense ratios. I hope I am including all the relevant information, if anything else I will edit it again. As for business, I have been doing many different types of ven...

Please help with redoing my portfolio - Age 26

I have been self-employed basically since my third year of college (never graduated and deferred). With my business ventures I have been successful but also have large amounts of cash that are going to waste as I have been "scared" to take a plunge and actually go with an investment plan. ...
