Re: Denver Meetup for Feb 2014 (please respond)

After reviewing the Doodle, it looks like Sunday February 9th at Noon local/MST is the winner. I know that several of you who responded are unavailable at that time, but unfortunately we had a wide range of responses. I will create a new thread to announce the meeting. In the meantime, what kinds of...

OldTimer - Great idea. I think a few times a year is perfect. Let's discuss at the meeting. I am traveling internationally right now, so haven't been online as much lately. We have received a good number of responses to the Doodle, though. I'll leave it out there for a bit longer and then we can set...

Not sure why it says Pacific time. I checked the settings and it doesn't look like there is any way for me to change it.

Please ignore and treat it as Mountain time.

Re: "Fundamentals matter" but they are not determinant.

In my opinion, the evidence on valuation is crystal clear: It is a fool's errand to attempt to time the market using CAPE (or any other valuation metric). [Just because you can see a cliff, doesn't mean you are driving straight over it.] However, it is highly useful in managing expectations and maki...

Re: Is there a disadvantage to using one 529 for 2 kids?

One really important factor to keep in mind regarding 529s is how FAFSA/financial aid is calculated. You mentioned grandparents, which is a perfect example of this. A 529 plan that is held by a grandparent is not counted in the FAFSA calculation until the money is actually used (and then it is only ...

UPDATED WITH LOCATION I received quite a few emails from Denver-area Bogleheads over the holidays, so I think it is due time to schedule a meetup. Re: Luck What Is It Good For?

I recently finished Mauboussin's book and I would highly recommend it as well.
