Vanguard precious metal & mining fund

Is it a good time to buy VGPMX since it is the only Vanguard stock fund that is down year to date ? Would this fund be a hedge against future inflation after the fed is done with its' printing money ?

Fear

I believe that it sounds like i'm hearing that a combo of CD's, a SPIA and a short term bond fund might be a way to go to portect principal as much as possible. My one worry regarding using 100% of 350,000.00 for a SPIA would be its safety of principal based on the life insurance company's ability t...

Fear

I was concerned of loss of principal You see that fund had a dip to 3.90 nav in 2009 and i had paid an average nav of 5.50 and earlier in the summer, it showed signs of rapid nav loss again - a trend that has now been reversed upwards again. I was afraid of another 29% loss of principle. ( 5.50-3.90...

FEAR

Just to explain myself in my last post, i was 60-40 in a variety of stock and bond funds with only about 10% in VWEHX at that time. When i cashed out .we went to 100% in VWEAX ( admiral shares of VWEHX) AS far as what i would like to generate, the VWEAX was generating approx. 2400.00 per month. Woul...

What % of your retirement income is from high yield ?

At present I receive approx. 40 % of my retirement income from Vanguards' high yield bond funds - VWEHX ( 35 % ) & VWEAX ( 35 % ) I do not intend to sell any of either fund. As long as I don't sell, I figure my income is safe. Also, my average nav is 5.21 per share. All other Vanguard bond funds...
