Re: Cash in Your Wallet

I have a $20 in my wallet right now no more than $100 but use credit card for everything so it gets reported to mint, cashback rewards, and so I don't have change in my pocket.

Re: Ally bank rate reduction to 0.84%

In December 2012, the Federal Reserve committed to keep the fed funds rate below 0.25% until either unemployment falls below 6.5%, or inflation rises above 2.5%. We are currently at 7.9% unemployment and 1.6% inflation. Thus, rates will not increase for some time to come. Of course, we should all h...

Re: Tracking credit card spending

I honestly don't know why people are so concerned with mints security. Especially considering if you just link your credit cards and something does happen you will still be covered.

It's no worse then buying something online with your credit card.

Re: How do things look to you young investors these days?

I think it's all relative for the most part. I do think a significant amount of people are in for a rude awakening concerning lifestyle changes (i.e. those with $20k/yr jobs with brand new vehicles, the latest designer clothes, eating out every night, etc.). For those that live beneath their means ...

Re: What to do savings/roth ira/401k

Is the $40k in your bank account for anything specific like a house downpayment? If not, you can "convert" this taxable money to tax-deferred by doing the following: 1. Change your paycheck deductions so that you contribute $17,500 to your 401k for 2013. This will make your paycheck reall...

Re: What to do savings/roth ira/401k

I only make $35k a year right now I started putting in 5% my employer matches 7% so 12% all together for my 401k. Have you verified employer is putting in 7%? Usually a 7% "match" would mean they would match what you put in up to 7%. If you only put in 5% they would only match that 5%. We...

Re: What to do savings/roth ira/401k

How much are you stuffing in the 401k? What are your tax rates? How much money do you have to invest monthly? Could you max out your 401k contribution at $17,500 for next year and still live a little? You are in a great position to do it all right from the get go. I only make $35k a year right now ...
