Re: Refinance ARM to 15 year fixed with 5 years left?

Thanks for the great advice. My thinking was clouded and I could not force myself to pay down the 2.375% loan. Obviously, I would be in trouble in 5 years if the marked was down and the mortgage reset to 7.5%. I took this loan originally because I thought I would pay it down faster, and the 30 year ...

Refinance ARM to 15 year fixed with 5 years left?

Hi Everyone, thanks for reviewing this post. I have a 7 year ARM at a current rate of 2.375% fixed until 4/2019. It can then go up to 7.5 %. The margin is 2.25% and it follows the 1 year LIBOR. After the first change in interest rates, it can move up or down by a max of 2 %. The loan was for $989,00...

Re: Backdoor Roth and Solo 401 k question

That's great news DSinvestor!
Can I do the same for my non working spouse?

So, just to clarify, I can do the backdoor for 2013 and 2014 as long as all of my pretax IRA money is in the solo 401 k by December 31, 2014.

Do I need to worry about the 403 b or 457b?
Thanks.

Hi everyone. I'm maxing out my pretax retirement accounts each year. I would like to start making backdoor roth contributions for me and my homemaker wife. I have about $35,000 in a pretax ira, $43,000 in a simple ira that I am planning to rollover to a solo 401 k at fidelity. (I am now self employe...

Deferred Benefit Plan through Schwab PLUS Solo 401 K ?

Hi everyone, I am the proud owner of a single member LLC. I work as an independent contractor and thus get paid only a 1099. My accountant has elected to have the IRS treat the LLC as a S corporation. I used to have a SEP, but in pursuit of maximal tax deferral, I have come across a few strategies. ...
