add a 401k to an existing traditional IRA

Hi,
I hope to retire this coming spring. I am curious if I can open up and fund a traditional IRA with Vanguard now,and then in the spring when I actually retire just roll my 401k into that existing Ira?

drawdown frequency

If my traditional IRA is with Vanguard and I want to take a 4% per year drawdown,will Vanguard allow me to take a monthly withdrawal of approx .333% or must I take the entire 4% once a year?,quarterly?,bianually?.

Taxing ?

Hi, I am 59 1/2,will be retiring soon and will be moving my 401k to a traditional IRA with Vanguard. If I invest the IRA into the Vanguard life stategies moderate fund, VSMGX,and lets say that I take a typical 4% drawdown to live off of,will Vanguard withhold any taxes on the 4% draw or will that be...

We will not need more when my wife leaves her job. My wife does have a small traditional IRA 50% stocks and 50% bonds present value $21,500, we also have a $10,000 tax exempt bond that pays at 5.75%, and approx $15,000 in savings.

I'm sorry, I guess I wasn't completely clear on my present portfolio,it is 100% invested in that Stable Value fund
and I add 30% of each paycheck to it while I am still working.
