Re: buy and hold no matter what?

20/20 hindsight makes it look easy ... but the problem becomes when do you get back in? If you market time you have to make buy/sell decisions frequently and it appears that very few are able to do that consistently although many have tried. i completely understand your point, as i see it when I'm ...

buy and hold no matter what?

If the market shot up 20% in 3 months would it make sense to take some profit off the table? I've been investing for about 7 years and was never concerned much during the last recession because my net worth wasn't that much. Fast forward to now, wife n I are roughly 40% way to retirement goal. Savin...

Re: Feeling Overwhelmed [Portfolio Help]

+1 on selling to cars. I find it funny how the finance director at work drives a $500 80s Volvo while the assembler drives Mercedes and Lexus. Those things are seriously holding you back.

Re: How do things look to you young investors these days?

Mid 30s future outlook is good. Dumping $ into the market in the last recession paid dividends. Planning to retire early as a matter of fact.

Re: Is $2M umbrella enough for $200K income + no assets?

Wait a minute, seems like base on your assets you don't need an umbrella. Maybe im just ignorant. What are you trying to protect against? I heard one financial advice that if u got less than 1 million, u don't need an umbrella.

letting life insurance proceeds past through estate

I'm thinking about letting my life insurance proceeds pass through my estate if my wife and I die at the same time. the reason I want to do this is I want my will to establish trusts for my kids who are minor. I understand that by doing this I am allowing myself open to estate tax. I also feel our e...

Re: Kids inherit Millions and surrounded by jackals (family)

JDCPAEsq, the forum has been very helpful, though I hadn't responded back in my other two thread. I guess out of courtesy, I probably should have thanked the contributor in a reply. Sorry. I appreciate all the response. I heard that getting an attorney involved with my size of estate is not worth it...

Kids inherit Millions and surrounded by jackals (family)

I like some ideas on how to structure my will so my kid's inheritance won't be squandered by their aunts/uncles/grandparents. Note that my family understands very little about $$. My biggest concern is dieing without a will. So I'm making it a priority during the xmas holiday to draw one up. I'm usi...

Early retirement withdraw strategy

What is the best strategy in retiring early (~45year old) and withdrawing from ROTH IRA and/or 401k to support yourself without the 10% penalty? I suspect my net worth would be 80% 401k and 20% ROTH. I believe there’s an option, where if you pay more than 7.5% of AGI on medical, there’s no penalty. ...
