All that my parents could brave out were the CDs. Anything beyond that is "risky" to them. I did not contribute to 401K for the first 3 years of my worklife. A colleague helped me understand that it is free money. I learned my first building blocks about money from http://www.bargaineering...

I don't know much about Indian banks, but the reason I believe they pay high deposit rates is they are short of USD, and that is because there is risk. But I cannot advocate adding to a LT bond position if you already have 20% of your AA in it. At this moment, I am using the I-Bonds as a secondary Emergency fund. My question was more in the line of for my future investments in the Bond part of my AA (20%), should I be investing solely in Bond Fund...
