In a Roth or SEP IRA, tips fund or short-term inv grade

Hello, Years ago, I contributed to Vanguard tips fund admiral (VAIPX) in my Roths and SEP IRA. Then, when I saw advice here a couple of years ago, I stopped investing in VAIPX - but did not sell - and used Vanguard Short Term Investment Grade VFSTX in both Roths and SEP IRAs. Now I'm getting ready t...

Re: Has anyone converted paper I-Bonds to electronic?

Yes, I did it a year ago. It's a good idea to call TD and find out exactly what you need to do. I've forgotten the entire procedure, but I do remember that we had to take the paper bonds to a bank in which we had an account to get a signature guarantee (not medallion, as I recall). We then sent them...

Now you know better than to ever ask a question. Just do it, as I said to JamesSFO. Note that even if you cheat (once), they will let it stand, as they did for the OP who bought $10k twice. Re: I-Bond Purchase Over the Limit was Allowed ?

Buying $10k twice as two different people with the same SSN is not the same as buying $10k twice as the same person with the same SSN. The regs are clear: you are not your trust and your trust is not you. The only issue is if you can have 10 trusts with the same SSN. Here is one way to think of it....

Re: living trust title as beneficiary vs. name of trust

It varies by state, but in CA, you should have anything over $100K of non-real-estate assets held in the name of your trust (not including tax-advantaged or POD accounts for which beneficiaries are named directly, and thus are not subject to probate). Your heirs can use a simple small estate affida...
