HSA Bank or Health Savings Administrators?

Through my employer I have an HSA account with HSA Bank. I now have enough of a chunk of money in the HSA that I would like to invest in Vanguard funds. The money is currently earning next to nothing and I do not plan to tap into the account to pay current medical costs. I'm considering transferring...

Re: Pay down mortgage before selling the house?

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a house and stumbled across the following article which advocates for not paying off the mortgage. The author argues a mortgage can make sense financially if you follow certain rules. It's a different take that made me think more about the pros/cons of payi...

The Garmin Forerunner 210 is awesome. If you aren't into triathlons, I think this is the perfect device. The profile is small and it has lots of great features and will work with HRM or foot pod for the treadmill. Here is a very useful review of the 210. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2010/12/garmin-for...

Best spot for bond fund

All -- I'm struggling with keeping up my bond allocation to maintain my desired overall asset allocation. 100% of my TSP contributions go into the G fund but it isn't enough to get me to the percentage I'd like to be at. In addition to the TSP, new money regularly goes into a taxable account (mostly...

Clarification

Taylor -- thanks for responding, and sorry I came off as a fool. Let me try to re-phrase my question and cast aside my previous reference to AA. Here is the issue: I want to invest in a single fund (in a taxable account) that gives me broad exposure to entire U.S. equity market, including small/mid/...

TSM for Taxable Account?

All -- In order to maintain proper AA for my overall portfolio, I need to start investing in a domestic total stock market index fund in my taxable Vanguard account. Is Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund the clear way to go or are there other funds I should be looking at? The other fund in my ta...

AA checkup

All -- I'm still in the process of getting my financial house in order and before I complete the process I wanted to get the forum's thoughts on my projected AA for my retirement portfolio. Between taxable and tax-deferred accounts I'm shooting for the following targets: 5% REIT (VG VGSIX in Rollove...

Bond fund in taxable account

Greetings All, Longtime lurker, infrequent poster seeking advice. Due to my ignorance prior to discovering the Boglehead way of investing, about 10% of my retirement portfolio is bonds in a taxable account (VG Inter-Term Bond Index Fund). I am overweighted in bonds and would like to convert the bond...

Just to follow up ... I have about $10,000 annually of new money going into FTSE All-World Ex-US in my taxable account. Prior to making this switch recently, I used to reinvest all dividends and had set up systematic monthly purchases in my taxable account. How do you recommend I invest this new mon...

Piper, Thanks very much for your comprehensive response. You've given me some great info to mull over. I agree that it makes sense to fund a Roth IRA for her. Done. With regard to bonds, if I did decide to go to 20% bonds, what's the best approach? Do you recommend I just start putting all new TSP m...
