If you like Tide you might want to try Gain, P&G's competitve brand. Same research people and I think you'll find it cleans 95% as well as Tide, at 75% the cost.

Results on the Short Term Index improved, because sentiment improved, we could say the same for stocks. My point is, in a flight to quality situation CD's and Treasuries(indivdual or fund) are bedrock. A better comparison would have been a short or mid-term Treasury fund to a CD, but they would not ...

It's quite a bit different Eric.

In 2008 the Vanguard Short Term Index the NAV had at one point dropped 4.5% and the yield dropped from 3.89% in January to 2.67% in December. CD's I buy, just don't do that!

Comparing bank CD's to Short Term Bond Index is misleading. CD's are full faith instruments and the Short Term Bond Index has 30% in corporate and foreign holdings.

VT and BND, no need for more unless you need to tax loss harvest. Then add VTI and VXUS to the mix, these four will do it and cover harvesting contingencies.

Fancy lighting is not needed any bulb source over 5500K will work fine. Phillips makes a T-8 in 6500k 48 in shop light bulbs for under $10. A fixture that houses two bulbs runs under $25, a way to control heat is nice (pad/timer). This setup will bring 24 plants from seed to 8-10in bushy transplants...

Security Service Federal Credit Union. I have a Visa and Money Market, MM is .45% on 25k. The CD rates are good, the online banking site is Flintstonian, and my branch is an easy half-mile walk away.

My checking and a Mastercard are with a FDIC regional bank, and I too have free checking.

If Rick Ferri likes them there has to be something to it. I'd only keep the fund in tax advantaged space and would strongly consider lowering my stock allocation percentage by half measure, to compensate for the risk change. Nothing comes without cost.

I like the idea of having the fuel source on the property, whether it's propane or diesel. The natural gas option would seem to susceptible to interruptions just when you need it most.

I've been a member for years and they are always in the hunt with their rates, money market accounts over 25k are now paying .45%. They are not big on bells and whistles, the online banking software is one step above DOS, but as long as the rates are good it's hard to complain too much.

Hang visquene or put the old door back in or what?

Just tell them what you want. Visqueen might be ok if you're out in the county somewhere, but in the city or burbs I'd think as a matter of course for a front entry they would cover it with plywood, and if not I'd stress it.

Put down a deposit on the sax equal to it's value and I bet they will drop the SSN number requirement. For them it's about having recourse to attack your credit if you skip with or damage the sax. What's a decent alto sax run these days, $1500-$1800
