Re: 401k Question, After Leaving Employer

Perhaps you can clarify your income range and that your contributions to your traditional IRA are deductible. And also what you expect your income to be in 5 years. I make slightly over 100k, I got confused and actually don't have a roth IRA just the 401k contributions from my previous employer (ar...

Re: 401k Question, After Leaving Employer

Your options are: What are the fees like in the new 401k? Are you ever going to want to do a Backdoor Roth? The new 401k with Fidelity has higher fees and doesn't offer any Vanguard Index funds. Sorry I'm a bit confused. I max my traditional IRA every year, I read up on Backdoor Roth and I don't th...

401k Question, After Leaving Employer

Hello I have a question on whats best to do with ones 401k. At my previous job I had a 401k with Charles Swab in Vanguard 2045 Target Retirement funds. I started a new job and they do a 50% match 401k although it is with Fidelity so now I have 2 401ks. What would be the best strategy for handling my...

CD as Earned Income for IRA?

Hello everyone and merry x-mas!

I have a CD that matured this year and gave me some nice interest. I was wondering if anyone knew if this can count as earned income that I am allowed to put into my IRA / Roth IRA?

Thank you!

Re: Which Vanguard 401k is Best?

MyLittlePony, I think a TR fund would work best for your boyfriend, at least until he becomes more familiar with investment options and market behavior. However, the three TR funds you listed are very high in equity and may not be suitable for an inexperienced investor. Does the plan offer any othe...

Re: Which Vanguard 401k is Best?

I am thinking to stick with the advice given in the Bogleheads Guide To Investing, your age in bonds and the rest in index funds. So about 25% Bonds 75% Index fund and then slowly tilt the percentage towards more bonds as he gets older. There is a 20% match available from his employer so I am thinki...

Re: Window 8

It is not worth it unless you have a tablet PC and are using one of those fancy digital pens to draw directly on your computer screen.

Hello kind sirs, I am trying to determine which 401k option is best for my boy friend. He is 24 years old and makes about $70,000 a year, we live in California if that makes a difference.
