Re: Critique a 31 year old new doctor's plan

[One of my worries is that since I am single I need to cultivate a strong social life and really try and find my future wife. I would hate to crawl under a rock for the next 3 years and wake up debt free with no hair and no marriage. The social scene where I live is not cheap. Spending 100-200 a ni...

Re: Student loans vs. mortgage vs. ???

I'm no pro on these matters but on the face of it, having 35k @ 4.75% strecthed out of 30 years seems absurd, especially when you clearly have the income to knock it out in short order. Like you said, you're being lulled into wasting your money away by the low payment. Don't be one of the "I ca...

Re: Is Bank of America tricking me on foreclosure purchase?

I dont understand why you are so upset about it, this seems like standard negotiations. You act as though the war is over. You offered and they countered. Now you have the opportunity to counter their offer. I'm willing to bet if you stick to your guns at 177k you will get the house, which is presum...

Re: Help me understand AAPL (stock value)

You pretty much answered your own question. It is all about expectations and meeting (or failing to) meet those expectations, not neccesarily growth or stagnation.

Re: Could you work for a hedge fund?

Sounds like you have a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a new country/continent (assuming youre from the US) and have enough cash to enjoy it. I'd go for it.

Re: Student loans or 401k be top priority if eligible for PL

PSLF=Public service loan forgiveness.
IBR= income based repayment.

As far as I know, not one single person has had a loan forgiven under PSLF yet, so there is a risk that that program may not be around when the time comes.

Re: Med student trying to generate passive income.

As a physician myself, I can tell you the best return on investment is going to be to focus on getting the highest grades and step scores possible so you can get into one of the higher paying specialties, from a strictly financial perspective. Nothing you could do in your free time now would ever su...
