Your best bet is to rent a car for all the days or a couple of days.

Public transit down here is awful. Not tourist friendly.

Stay on Miami Beach if you can. Not much around the airport area.

Update: Mother received “rights to dissolve writ” documents in the mail” and my friends name was on the writ. As of that point, his name was not mentioned in any documents.
