Lease vs Buying a Car

401k rollover as a Roth Converter

Each year I put the maximum $5k in a traditional IRA and immediately convert to a Roth IRA to avoid taxes related to the transaction. We have no qualified accounts other than 401ks. I would like to rollover an old 401k to Vanguard and establish a qualified rollover account. By doing this will I incu...

Commodity Fund for Inflation hedge

Currently using DJP iPath DJ-UBS Commodity Index TR ETN as my inflation hedge within my portfolio. I'm not happy with it so far, its performance is opposite than what I thought it should have performed over this period. Its almost like this is an inverse fund. Re: Variable Annuities GMXB for Investor

Sorry I wasn't more clear. I'm not necessarially looking for the cheapest from a cost standpoint, but the most "underpriced" from an insurance standpoint. Its a relative benefits to cost comparison. For example, in the late 2007s when most of these benefits were underpriced, you could get ...

SPIA vs Variable Annuity with Lifetime WB

I'm new to this industry. Are Immediate payout rates higher than withdrawal rates on VA WB's? I would think they would be since you cannot surrender during a payout phase for the Immediate so the lack of liquidity you give up should go through as a higher payment to you (all things equal). Therefore...

Overwhelmed About Asset Allocation

What is a typical rule of thumb people use to develop their equity to bond ratio? I'm 30 and use about a 25% bond allocation...is that too light? So essentially, if i want to buy bonds for my portfolio within a Roth wrapper then i should go vanguard intermediate, long and short...if i want to purchase with taxable funds i should go the vanguard muni route.

Any suggestions on the laddering percentages?

State 529 Plans

I live in MO, and I heard that the state of MO allows you to invest in any other state's 529 plan. Does anyone know if that is true?

Also I would appreciate any advice people might have for me to which state has the best plan. Thank you.
