Long Term AFR Rate (currently about 3%) plus 3% if he has a good credit rating and it is a secured loan.

It is good to have some savings outside qualified plans. You don't want all of your income sources in retirement to be taxable.

I made a loan to a company in October 2011. The company went public in June 2012. They paid off my loan with shares of stock. What is my purchase date? October 2011 or June 2012?
